Batching
Cook one tenderloin at a time, lying flat in the basket. For 8 servings, cook a second tenderloin the same way. Times and the 145°F (63°C) endpoint do not change with the amount.
Original recipe: 4 servings.
The optional cooking spray and any extra salt at the table are left out of the base nutrition scenario.
Before you start
- Read through the recipe before you start. Gather the air fryer, small bowl, cutting board, knife, instant-read thermometer and the measured ingredients.
Directions

Read and gather
For the whole recipe
Read through the recipe and gather the equipment. Use the ingredient lines to prepare and measure everything. Wash your hands and the board after handling the raw pork. Everything is measured and the tenderloin is trimmed and dry.

Stir the rub together and coat the pork
For each tenderloin
Stir 1 tbsp chili powder, 1 tsp fine salt, 1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1/4 tsp black pepper and 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper together in the small bowl until the color is even. Rub 1 1/2 lb pork tenderloin all over with 1 tbsp olive oil, then press the spice mixture onto every side. Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray, if using. The tenderloin is evenly coated with the rub.

Lay the pork in the basket and air-fry it hot
For each tenderloin
Lay the tenderloin in the basket on a diagonal so it lies flat and straight. Air-fry at 400°F until the rub darkens and the surface starts to color, about 5 minutes.

Turn the air fryer down and cook to temperature
For each tenderloin
Turn the air fryer down to 325°F and keep cooking until an instant-read thermometer in the thickest part of the tenderloin reads 145°F (63°C), about 12 to 15 minutes.

Move the pork to the board and let it rest
For each tenderloin
Move the tenderloin to the cutting board and let it rest, uncovered, for at least three minutes, the USDA rest for whole cuts of pork. The pork has rested for at least three minutes.

Cut the pork, taste and finish with honey
For the whole recipe
Cut the tenderloin across the grain into 3/4-inch (2 cm) slices. Taste a slice. Aim for savory and smoky with gentle heat. If it tastes flat, sprinkle fine salt to taste over the slices. Drizzle with 1 tbsp honey and serve right away to make 4 servings. Refrigerate leftovers within two hours and reheat them to 165°F (74°C). The pork is sliced, glazed and ready to serve.
About this recipe
Why it works
Pork tenderloin is a lean, quick-cooking cut. A hot start browns the spice rub, a lower temperature lets the center catch up without drying the outside, and a short rest finishes the cooking before slicing.
Associated with
American home cooking
Tenderloin is the long, lean muscle along the backbone. Air-fryer versions use the countertop convection appliance to brown it quickly.

Occasions
Serving and keeping
Best served: Right after resting and slicing Sliced across the tenderloin into thick slices, finished with honey
Make ahead: Cook the tenderloin just before serving; lean pork dries out if cooked ahead and reheated hard.
Storage: Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours (1 hour above 90 °F / 32 °C). Frozen, they keep best for about 3 to 4 months.
Leftovers: Lean tenderloin dries if reheated hard; warm slices gently.
Food safety
- Raw pork touches your hands and board during the rub; wash them before handling the honey or the serving platter.
- Cook whole-muscle pork to 145 °F (63 °C) and rest it at least 3 minutes; confirm the temperature with a thermometer before slicing.
- Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours (1 hour above 90 °F / 32 °C) and reheat to 165 °F (74 °C).
We make no statement about cross-contact in your kitchen or in packaged ingredients. Check the spice blend and cooking spray labels.
Nutrition notes
Lean pork tenderloin supplies most of the protein and little fat.
Most of the sodium comes from the salt and the salted chili powder blend; tenderloins sold enhanced with a salt solution add more. Halving the salt keeps it lower.
